Gender Care Letters + Support

Inner Justice Works provides free brief assessments for readiness for gender-affirming medical care. Any of our clinicians are qualified to provide you with an appropriate screening and letter of recommendation, in alignment with the World Professional Association of Transgender Health’s Standards of Care, Version 8 (SOC 8) requirements, to support your transition-related medical care. We also consider the University of California San Francisco’s Guidelines for the Primary and Gender-Affirming Care of Transgender and Gender Nonbinary People in our process.

Lance and Jayelin are both members of the Gender-Affirming Letter Access Project, which lists a number of local clinicians who offer similar services. Give it a glance if we aren’t able to serve your needs or you’re in the market for a second letter (some procedures require more than one provider to assess you and write a letter).

Most of the time, if you need a letter for gender-affirming care, and you don’t need other support from therapy or case management, we can complete your assessment and letter within a one-month timeframe, and offer this service at no cost to you. In cases where you have a more complicated situation, need more support, or decide to come back for therapy, we are able to re-assess the duration of your time in treatment, as well as options for payment.

Each of us knows how to walk you though the process of preparing for the most common gender-affirming medical treatments and procedures, and each of us believes that you are the only one who truly knows who you are. Our role in this space is to support your process of deciding upon, planning for, completing, and moving forward from any care that makes sense for you.

For folks with more specific or technical questions about legal transition (changing your legal name or sex on state and federal identity documents), we offer supportive case management, and often refer clients to Affirmations, which provides a monthly Name / Gender Marker Change Clinic, and also case management and individualized support in navigating this process.

We are committed to providing gender-affirming care to any client who needs it. We also understand many of our clients have legitimate fears about the future of their healthcare.
